About the Author
Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980) was a pioneer Canadian theorist and educator in the fields of communication and media studies. He taught at the University of Toronto from 1946 to 1979 and became popular for his aphorism, "the medium is the message" which summarized his view of the media's potent influence on shaping culture and styles of thinking. His major writings include The Gutenberg Galaxy (1962), Understanding Media (1964), and The Medium Is the Massage (1967).

This book was fun to read.

This book is a fun read. McLuhan puts forth his philosophy of technology and the information age through the use of magazine advertisements from the sixties. It was interesting and fun to read the old advertisements, and compare the advertising methods and values of the sixties to today. Some of the advertisements were just down right funny.

Absolutely fantastic. Always a good read. The follow-up to his book "The Mechanical Bride". It's all over the place, incoherent, and beautiful.
